Review "Alan Nelson's The Walk is written with a unique approach and perspective that leaves the reader something to hold onto at the end of every page. Through the journey of Rik, Annie and their unexpected guest, the reader quickly sees themselves in the ongoing dialogue. The Walk will take readers on an emotional and spiritual journey of their own as questions of relationships, hope and even eternity surface throughout this penetrating conversation." - Steven Ackley, Pastor

Nelson continues to grow both as a writer and storyteller in this conversation-style piece. Within these pages we're transported into a mind-opening, imaginative tête-à-tête between the modern man and the physically present Christ. The back-and-forth, persuasive conversation between Rik and Jesus gives glimpses of an apologetic debate in a similar vein to Ravi Zacharias' The Lotus and the Cross, as well as the gripping and eternity-defining exchanges found in C.S. Lewis' The Great Divorce. Themes of the conversation can be a little heavy-handed at times, and the shortness of the book lends to some theology not being completely unpacked. However, the fleshed out nature of Christ, the peek into the authentic lives and struggles of compelling characters, and beautifully crafted imagery makes The Walk a very enjoyable and memorable read.

Although this book is not very long, Mr. Nelson gives us a great look at a man who is struggling with his wife's life-changing decision and the sin in his life. This book explores the human nature of not believing what you can't see, but what happens when you can see it? Will you still choose to not believe?Written as a conversation, this book is very easy to read. Mr. Nelson gives a 'warning' at the beginning to readers that there are more adult themed elements in the book. I think that parents should have a talk with their children before reading this book. It is very well written and he is very respectful and doesn't make it awkward for the reader. It is a book about a married couple, so those elements are realistic and appropriate.I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be recommending it.

He needed an escape, so he ran or rather, walked. Who found him on his walk was the last person he thought he needed. Jesus lovingly draws all to Himself. He paid the price of sin and waits for us to accept His free gift of salvation. Alan explained, in a unique way, what might a conversation be if Jesus met someone on their "walk." The ending is my favorite part!
