I came from only having an introductory course in Angular and LOVE the style this book is written in: Small, working examples.If you need to learn Angular, get this book. Its clear demonstration by example. There is no 'getting lost in the details' S the author stays on track, which keeps me on track. This will be a good reference to keep on hand as well. If you're an MVC, or specifically, a dot.Net MVC developer, you'll probably appreciate Angular and how well its explained here. A few typos aside, I learned Angular.Js with this book.

By Gabriel Torok Istvan does a great job of building up knowledge of Angular JS in very appropriate stages. He starts with the basics and has you create a primitive diving log application and then has you progressively improving the application while connecting that back to important concepts. It is a well written book and I'd recommend it to anyone trying to learn Angular JS.

Fully Recommend By Sabina's Minion This is an excellent book for learning Angular.js provided you are already familiar with Web development and Javascript. I absolutely loved the approach the author used to demonstrate each piece of functionality by providing clear simple working examples at each step. The book is very well organized into chapters introducing new concepts and containing a series of simple examples within each chapter building on each other.The only negative is that it is clear that English is not the first language of the author. The book littered with grammatical mistakes, poorly constructed sentences and odd choices of words.. I debated taking one star off the review because of this, but ultimately decided not to. The book just does its job too well to get anything less than 5 stars.I think the author is a natural at explaining technical concepts and he should certainly keep up the good work. However, I suggest that he work with a good editor to help him clean up the english.

Ogres, however, lay in wait for Junior School children entering schools in the 1920s. This book, written by an 82-year-old man brought up in the Valley, shows the life of two Rhondda boys born in 1920. In the first fifteen stories they are schoolboys aged between six and eleven; in a further fifteen tales they are eight to ten years older and working in a colliery, the story-teller as a lampman and his friend as a hewer of coal. The book provides a detailed picture of their lives in a unique place, the Rhondda Valleys, at a unique time, the Depression years between the two great wars of the Twentieth Century. The reader looks at Rhondda streets, houses, gardens and gullies - the dirt lanes where roaming sheep and children abounded, into classrooms, chapels, shops and cafes, pubs and a Conservative club full of near-communists, workmen’s institutes, dance-halls, parks and playgrounds, a football game and a cricket match, street games, a tug-of-war contest between teams of Catholics and Protestants, a Quaker meeting-hall, a bowling-green, a mountainside golf course constructed by out-of-work miners, cinemas and Bracchi shops. The boys encounter brutal teachers, angry neighbours, a burglar, ministers and deacons, a medium, a future-telling spirit and even the Devil himself, the coolest missionary to evade the cooking-pot, Great War heroes – one a fugitive, the other a would-be suicide, various shopkeepers, café-owners, groundsmen and other natural enemies of young boys, particularly the local bobby and his superiors, and even an aggressive scavenging sheep. They play outside a working slaughterhouse, create a street-cart spectacle, disrupt an adult séance, try to steal fruit from a garden, subvert a school Nativity play, entrance a club concert audience of miners, enliven a cricket-match, endure a school swimming-lesson on a freezing May morning, serve as a suicide’s assistants, shock a chapel congregation with shrill whistling and a clockwork mouse, insult a preacher, and shoot a cheating café-owner in his allotment. Their friends include a juvenile kleptomaniac, a pint-sized sceptic, an adept bully, a fiendishly clever and outdoing little girl and another with sharp and eager teeth. They are assisted or obstructed by memorable adults of different kinds. The young miners, happy bachelors that they are, just about manage to cope with fond but suspicious fiancées, each with a will of iron and a disconcerting inclination towards matrimony. They engage in a battle of wits with a dry Italian café-owner, his fictional duck and his precociously attractive fifteen-year-old niece. They clash with a sly police constable, a jealously pugnacious suitor, a greedy bookie, a victim of their mild practical joke, an unscrupulous chapel minister, an enemy scornful of their newfound dancing skills, a formidable market greengrocer, an officious park-keeper, an angry, jealous workmate spoiling for a fight, and an old professional boxer, skilled and without scruples. Their friends and acquaintances encounter a penny-pinching colliery official, the stubborn father of a girlfriend, a callous pit manager, a drunken heckler in a fair, a war widow who sends a white feather to a war hero, poverty that denies two children’s hope of a visit from Father Christmas, the resourcefulness of a coach-load of single-minded schizophrenics, and the menace of a murderous, mocking German sniper. Poverty is not funny, but when you don’t know or care that you are poor you grab the opportunities for fun, killing time pleasurably without the adult’s awareness that time is killing you. These events are told joyfully, with tongue in cheek and without a hint of regret. Rhondda people, and readers not lucky enough to have been raised there, will, I am sure, enjoy these memories, real and imagined.

The book is full of fantastic stories and the people with whom he grew up and helped form him. Edward Rees is quite a character. These stories are a bit different from the other story that made the Rhondda famous only this one might be titled "How Black Was My Valley."

Danny finds himself becoming the fall guy for the paper's failure, and sees his reputation and integrity destroyed (to say nothing of his severance bonus). Dickinson's contiguous "morn to midnight" treatment is without chapter divisions (as befits an account of a newsroom melee) and has all the strenuous unity of a stage play. There is nothing broad or overwrought in either satirical vision or characterization, as the author meditates on how currents of morality and convenience may move within any organization. From Library Journal On Halloween morning, Danny Fain sees from his commuter train a child in a ghost costume hit by a car. Fain, an editor for The Bugle , Chicago's second newspaper, assigns a reporter to try to find the child and a story. At the office it is announced that the paper is closing down. Meanwhile they're still publishing, and the staff is scrambling for stories, alternatives, and new jobs. Reporter Tim Penn finds the child and gets a job from a TV station in exchange for an exclusive. There is a labor dispute in the press room, tempers flare, people are attacked, and Fain is torn between loyalty to the paper and his own salvation. When TV attacks Fain for not reporting the accident to the police, his resignation is demanded. The pace in the novel is absolutely jet speed. The funniest indictment of the newspaper industry you'll ever read By Peter B-P Essentially, "Rumor Has It" is the story of a imploding newspaper on the verge of anarchy. Dickinson seems to have a great wealth of knowledge on the inner workings of the news business, down to job titles and reporter lingo. The real strengths of the novel are the characters, from the boss who plans his day on sticky notes, the traitorous reporters who are nearly mobbed in the newsroom, and the protagonist, Danny Fain, who remains sympathetic despite making some very poor choices. Often times it is extremely funny, even absurd, and I can't remember reading through a book quite as fast before, wanting to know what happens next.

Baker This book was great, one of Dickinson's best, and I've read them all (course the Widows' Adventure ranks up there, too!!). Very unusual book in that it has no chapters, just starts on page one and zips all the way through to the end. A fun, thought-provoking, unique excellent work.

By C M This book is a great insight into EFT, which I have been curious about for a while as I have been facing some problems lately like anxiety and insomnia.This book goes into detail about what exactly EFT is, and how it can be beneficial for many different problems that are holding you back. It also explains the process of EFT in a very simple and easy to follow manner. The techniques allow you to become a more positive thinking person as it helps with the bodies negative energies, which is exactly what I needed. This is a great method to try and I am glad I got this book, highly recommend!

I am a psychology student and I suffer from anxiety. Given both of those facts I was excited to read this book. The author teaches you what EFT is and how it used. She explains the benefits and the history of the science behind it. I am going to try this technique for my own anxiety and I am feeling hopeful after reading this book.

I use essentials oils all the time. I have never thought of growing my own and this book does a great job of telling how to grow the herbs. The book also explains what the herbs do and how to use them. I feel I do learn something from this eBook. This book is one I will have to refer back to so I can try growing my own. I am very happy that I found this book and was able to read it and it gave me information I needed.

It had a nice introduction; however, it was not detailed as I thought it would be. It would have been better if it had the special and rare herbs I was looking for. Sadly, I am already aware of the different uses for most these. Some of these uses are not accurate and still needs more detail on what other cases it could cure. Some treatments have different effects in cases of asthma and sinus problems-a person could still have an allergic reaction to some of the ingredients.

If you want to read a great novel, then be sure to pick up this book. I was totally engrossed in the childrens' adventure as they followed the high wires, hopefully to safety. They run into plenty of trouble along the way that keeps you guessing, and turning the pages. The ending absolutely leads into a follow up book---which I hope the author is working on! I highly recommend Caryl's newest book!

Earth’s a whole new world & nothing like Eden By Harold Wolf This is a new dystopian adventure series that surprisingly gripped me fast and held me furiously till the end. I love Caryl McAdoo historical Christian fiction, and was nearly as engrossed in this futuristic melee. Caryl McAdoo turns a Texas town story into an end times-like thriller from the git-go. McKenzie & Coop are left at home with older brother Jackson as all power and electronics cease to function. It’s a bit more modern than Jerry B Jenkins “Left Behind” series which based events on Biblical prophecy. McAdoo draws on Survivalists’ (Preppers’) current mindsets for this futuristic story picture. The youths’ only escape route is a 100 mile road to “Meems” & “Pops.” What they’re about to face will feel more like a million miles of Hades.Thugs, pit bull, kidnappers, divine intervention aka miracle, drug runners, wild animal threats, murders, (that just gets them to the city limits) are all a part of this YA story with teenage primary characters, banded by circumstance into “rag tag survivalists.” They trek to a destination unknowing of what will be found, if intact, over miles where rules of law has turned extinct. It’s gripping, but worth the read for those enjoying this type of futuristic thriller; with a sprinkling of a Christian thread.A few preview pages of “The Sixth Trumpet”, 2nd of the “Days of Dread Trilogy” suggest some of the young group will return into the havoc in search of a lost parent.(No release date as yet posted by New Years Day 2016)

By debbie curto The King's Highway (Days of Dread Trilogy Book 1) by Carly McAdoo is a book that really kept this reader on edge, wanting to know what was going to happen next. I had no idea what the book was about when I signed up to be on the book tour, I just knew I liked the author's ( Texas Romance Series) and thought I am sure this series would be just as good. Well, I was not disappointed, it was good!This novel, I think is written for middle grade scholars and though I am way past middle school I was devouring the journey these children were on.I must warn future readers, if you don't want to read about things that are going on in today's world such as murdering, thieving and drug use, don't read this book. Even though I have given this warning, it is a Christian book with no cursing and no sex scenes. Just a true picture of what is happening more and more in today's world.What would you do if everything you know was suddenly missing in your world, electricity and water and even your sense of safety? Well that has happened to Jackson and "his people" and he must lead them to safety! The journey is unbelievable. Is it an alien or a shape shifter or is it God leading them and keeping them on the King's Highway?I have one complaint, the book leaves you wanting more and we have to wait!I am giving the book five stars.I was given a Advance Reader Copy by Celebrate Lit for my honest review! The opinions are my own!

Each page of the board book has a simple word that not only tells part of the story depicted but also allows little fingers to flip the pages as fast as their attention spans will allow.Don't think for a minute that these words will have little impact. Especially don't read the NOAH'S ARK scene in a doctors waiting room. I thought they were going to call an ambulance for me.This book is without a doubt the funniest book I have ever read. I rarely find anything funny enough to laugh out loud but I rolled through this book. If you missed the first 3 books, you have to go back and read them. The world is a troubled place. We need to laugh more. Beware...there is profanity. Only problem I had was how spoiled their daughter was. She needs to be reigned in and set some limits.

I actually found myself laughing out loud at a book, as I do quite often with his. And these days, it just feels like I'm growing older with these characters; I don't want this series to end. I can't wait for the next where they visit Boston. I wish more books were as well-written and planned, with fleshed out characters.

Every one of his books is flat out funny from front to back.....not only the situations he writes about, but the way he describes things. He's such a GUY. Everything from ebooks to affiliate marketing through sites such as Clickbank are covered here. The list of the 5 top digital websites at the back of the book was very useful as I hadn’t heard of a couple of them. The digital world is large and getting larger and sometimes it is hard to wrap your mind around it. This book is a good start in doing just that.

As an English academic, theologian, and preacher, Clarke would be found mastering Isaac Newton's new system of the Universal Laws of Motion and translating an invaluable textbook to introduce and promote Newton's position (1697), defending the Christian religion in A Discourse concerning the Being and Attributes of God, the Obligations of Natural Religion, and the Truth and Certainly of the Christian Revelation (1705), serving as a chaplain to Protestant Queen Anne of England (1705), translating Isaac Newton's Optics (1706), expounding upon the Tri-Unity of God in his celebrated treatise The Scripture Doctrine of the Trinity (1712), refusing the secular post of Master of the Mint (1727) upon the death of Sir Isaac Newton (whom he would have replaced), and accumulating ten volumes of his own sermons (published posthumously); but, best remembered by many Christians is his compilation of Precious Bible Promises, which shows us that Dr. Samuel Clarke had not only a keen intellect, but a true understanding of the evangelical "faith which worketh by love" (Gal 5:6) and its attendant Promises. "Let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth Me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the Earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD" (Jer 9:24). The Bible is a book of such transcendent worth, and so happily suited to all the parts and purposes of the Christian life, that it can never be too much recommended to the world; every thing that allures the world to peruse it, is a blessing to mankind. And though it is hard for our narrow capacities to grasp and take in its several distinguishing excellences at one view, yet, if we take a separate survey of the doctrines and duties, the promises and threatenings, the prophecies and histories, which are contained therein, each of them will afford us an awful or a delightful prospect, with lessons for special improvement.

Moore has a writing style that allows you to walk with the characters. I love the way she sets the stage for each scene. She allows you to become very visual. Renee, poor thing be careful what you ask for sweetie. As the main character, Renee reveals you can come from the best of families and still want more. I wait patiently for the next book. A Thought Provoking Book with a Few Rough Edges By Spencer In his recent book, From Nature to Creation: A Christian Vision for Understanding and Loving our World, Norman Wirzba makes a case that much of the ecological degradation that has occurred and continues to occur due to a shift in the human relationship with the world around. His argument is that the shift from seeing the world as God’s creation to seeing it as mechanistic nature has allowed disregard for and utilitarian abuses of the environment to perpetuate.SUMMARYAfter an introduction, the book includes five chapters. Chapter One outlines the disassociation that many contemporary individuals feel from the world around. When Nietzsche declared God to be dead it reflected the attitude of many in the world, not simply the intelligentsia. However, when the concept of God faded from the forefront of society, so did the notion of an ordered creation. This allowed the value of nature to be reduced to its utility, whether aesthetic or functional. It also tended to accelerate the sense of separation that human had developed from the created order. The Enlightenment, as diverse as it was philosophically, had tended to treat the world mechanistically and humans as superior mechanism within it. This was accelerated by the so-called death of God, and this only increased the loss of a sense of place and order.One response to the the rise of the idea of nature was a disassociation from it. A second was the idolization of nature, which Wirzba considers in his second chapter. In some interpretations, nature was viewed as a good in and itself and the preservation of it untrammeled by human hands an act of absolute necessity. On the hand, some idolized nature for the benefits they could extract from it. Modernity, according to Wirzba, resulted in the process of humans bestowing meaning to the world instead of discovering meaning already in the world. This led to the ultimate idolatry, which is really worship of ourselves. Viewing the world as God’s creation prevents such a perversion.In Chapter Three, the point is that creation must be perceived as it is and that the process of rightly interpreting the world around is a necessary part of the human experience. Disassociation from the world around, which has been encouraged by many forms of technology, clouds people’s perceptions. It is thus necessary for Christians in particular to seek to gain, as much as possible, God’s perception of the world and its value. By seeing the world as it is and as it is meant to be, the idolatrous turn can be reversed.The fourth chapter details the importance of regaining a sense of our status as creatures. Perception helps to prevent the negative development of idolatrous attitudes, but humans are only situated in the world properly when they understand themselves as creatures made by God. In this chapter, Wirzba pushes for an agrarian understanding of the world, claiming that a greater connection with the soil is both biblical and vital to rightly understanding the world. He also ties the understanding of creatureliness into good eating habits, which are contemplative of the food eaten and the time, space, and community of the eating event. This sort of romantic solution to the environmental problems will resonate with hipsters and others who are pushing through the postmodern milieu. Whether it will truly help stem environmental degradation is another issue.Finally, Chapter Five, focuses on thankfulness as “the most fundamental and honest expression of what it means to be a human being, because it is here, in the thanksgiving act, that people appreciate and attempt to live into the knowledge that life is a gift.” (131) Wirzba blames a lack of gratitude on the use of money instead of trading. Currency increases the exactness of transactions, which thus leads to a sense of completion rather than open ended thankfulness. The reduction of the environment to its monetary value, as it sometimes is in cost benefit analyses, also reduces the notion that creation is a gift from God. Wirzba comes back again to the notion that gardening helps restore a sense of thankfulness for creation since, after all, the gardener can do nothing to actually grow the plants. An attitude of thankfulness is at the heart of a right understanding of the created order according to Wirzba.ANALYSIS AND CONCLUSIONAlthough this volume is short on practical application, it is a fine text and conveys many ideas that are worth mulling. Wirzba’s diagnosis of the problem is especially astute. Environmental degradation occurs when there is a sense of disassociation from the creation. It’s just dirt. Or, it’s only a bird. That sort of mechanistic understanding undermines compassion for other living creatures and a theocentric vision for seeing God’s handiwork in all of creation. As such, this is a worthy contribution to the series and an important book to read.However, there are points in the volume where Wirzba—who is an good scholar—gets sloppy. For example, he makes a bold assertion: “Many theologians believe bodies to be something that must be finally overcome and left behind.” (21) The trouble is that he cites none of them. In fact, I’ve been looking for someone to make that argument so that I can include it in my dissertation. The sad fact is the no orthodox theologian actually believes that. I have been unable to uncover a single one, though I am hoping that I find someone. It may be a sentiment in the pews of some churches, but it is certainly not a belief that is widely believed by theologians.In another place, Wirzba appears to misrepresent the atonement, which is no small criticism for a Christian volume. He writes, “The reconciliation of all things in heaven and on earth that the Christ-hymn in Colossians describes happens through the blood of Christ’s cross, which means it happens through the self-offering life that Jesus demonstrated in his ministries of healing, feeding, exorcising, attending to, and touching others.” (24) He is exactly correct that the reconciliation of all things happens through Christ’s blood on the cross. He would have been correct to argue that the nature of that reconciliation was demonstrated or illustrated by the way Christ lived on earth. The context is talking about living on earth and not waiting to get plucked out of physical existence, but this passage makes it seem that Wirzba is moving the atonement from Christ's substitutionary death to his obedient life; both are important, but the penalty for sin was paid in blood, not servitude. It may be that this is simply worded poorly, but the atonement is one area that clarity is worth every moment spent.These problems are significant. However, they do not undermine the overall value of the volume. This is an important entry in an ongoing conversation and Wirzba’s argument of the importance of understanding the essence of creation as a gift from God carries significant weight. Thus this volume has a place in the library of those seeking a deeper understanding of the contemporary issues in Christian environmental ethics.Note: A gratis copy of this volume was provided by the publisher with no expectation of a positive review. Solid On The Ground Theology By Phil Aud My introduction to Norman Wirzba’s work came a few years ago when I read his incredible “Food and Faith.” Seeking to do some research on the topic I saw the title of his book and decided to pick it up. I was pleasantly surprised at the deep level theology and philosophy that was being written. I was excited when I saw the current title being released and am thankful to be able to review it. (Thanks to Netgalley for the review copy).In “From Nature to Creation,” Wirzba does not disappoint. In reading this book I was reminded again what an important voice Wirzba is to the church. His theology is, quite literally, on the ground. It impacts and challenges us at the core levels of our humanity. By engaging the question of what it means to be a human creature, Wirzba explores the questions that are fundamental to the flourishing both of humanity, but also the world. In his words, “To ask about who we are is also to ask about how we are to live where we are. The question of ‘who?,’ in other words, is not theorized in the abstract. It is worked out and discovered in economic and social patterns of life practiced in the world.” He explores the the importance of seeing the world in the right way, since how we see “is an imposition of ourselves upon what is seen.” Related to how we see is how we name, and how we name something will inevitably determine our relationship with it.In the second chapter Wirzba offers a sharp challenge to the development of nominalism and there, as well as in the final chapter, confronts any knowledge that is not rooted in relational intimacy. Such thinking ultimately leads us away from transcendence and towards idolatry. To return to understand creation in the right way means, ultimately, a return to Jesus. “Creation, we might say, flows from Jesus at its beginning, flows through Jesus as it is healed, and flows to Jesus as it is fulfilled. Jesus is the pivot of the universe’s movement and the key to its deep meaning and significance."Wirzba makes a compelling case for an agrarian reading of Genesis and engages wonderfully here with Bonhoeffer. I was also drawn to his writing on the embrace of human limit. Finally, his dealing (in the final chapter) with gratitude and a proper understanding (challenging Derrida) of gift were incredible.One leaves this book reminded of the immensity of the gospel and challenged that mission is deeper than we often assume, and yet right under our feet.

How did you get so interested in ecological issues?Wirzba: I grew up a farm kid on the foothills of the Canadian Rockies. I loved being outdoors and working with land and animals. When I started reading philosophy and saw that they often spoke of the “world” in rather abstract ways, I wanted to make things more specific and applicable to the lives people live in the day to day. I was especially drawn to philosophers who spoke of our involvement in the world as a way to derive meaning. Agricultural work did that for me, but not many philosophers engage agricultural traditions.Moore: Your book is loaded with quotes and insights from Wendell Berry. Tell us a bit about how your friendship with Berry.Wirzba: We became friends when I moved to Kentucky to teach. I saw in his work a way of naming and describing things that are fundamental but often ignored by philosophers and theologians. He also spoke to my own agricultural story.Moore: You do a terrific job of demonstrating that words or how we name things matters. Why is it important to see our world as created rather than a hunk of matter?Wirzba: How we name things determines how we are going to relate to them. I don’t treat a “weed” the same way as I treat a “flower” even though both are plants. If the world is a “store” we will position ourselves as consumers. If the world is God’s “creation,” and we appreciate what that name means, then we will have to position ourselves in unique ways.Moore: The fast-paced and distracted nature of modernity makes thoughtful thinking seem impractical. What can we do to slow down and be more aware of the world we inhabit?Wirzba: The more I live the more I think that Sabbath is crucial to our well-being and the well being of the world. We need to be able to think carefully about why we are so busy. What is our frantic pace ultimately for? Will we discover that we have impoverished our lives with all this busyness?Moore: Would you describe how a growing appreciation for the incarnation of Jesus brings greater awareness to the importance of physical realities?Wirzba: First, there is the basic, astounding fact that God saw a human, fleshly body as a suitable home for the divine life. In his body the fullness of the divine life dwelled. Christians who argue the dualist view that bodies don’t matter or ultimately need to be left behind, deny the incarnation. Second, Jesus loves material bodies, which is why he heals and feeds and exorcises and befriends them. It is crucial to resist the impulse to flee material creation. As Revelation makes clear, God’s eternal destination is creation.Moore: What are some ways we seek to gut the world of its mystery and so control it for our own consumer-oriented desires?Wirzba: We want to make everything into a possession that we can then control. That way we can life on our own terms. We are afraid of the messiness of our entanglements with other bodies. We are afraid of death. And so we flee into the worlds of our own making. There is a complex psychology behind all of this. We need to see that this is ultimately an evasion before life. Jesus doesn’t do that.Moore: What are some practical things we can do to increase our awareness of how God provides food?Wirzba: The best thing is to grow some, even just a little bit. You don’t need to plunge into a big garden to learn about the gift, fragility, pain, and beauty of life. If you can’t do much of that, make time to find and get to know gardeners and farmers and learn from them what you can. Read about our food system. Don’t be an ignorant eater. And then cook food together with family and friends to share. Talk about what you are doing and discovering.
