0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. One of the best masked crimefighters in one of his finest collections of adventures By Uncle Mickey The Golden Age of Comics is, to some, a misnomer. The sheer volume of books put out during World War II is staggering, leaving some non-speculating comic collectors to bypass anything they don't already know about. In the case of The Black Hood, a terrific revival of the character is currently being published by Black Circle Comics, a division of Archie Comics, which grew out of the original MLJ Comics company. In the 1940s, "Black Hood Comics" was one of those publications with which you got the best bang for your buck. Instead of one adventure of the title character backed by forgettable characters in barely readable yarns, you were able to read at least three and the character of Kip Burland, police officer by day, hooded vigilante by night (or as needed) is realistic for the time and not saddled with an inane boy sidekick or the kind of "comedy relief" that plagued Steel Sterling). These are fact-paced, action thrillers that deliver on the masked vigilante theme. This particular issue is also graced by an adventure of The Hangman (currently also going through a revival) as drawn by the masterful Bob Fuje.
