Review "A feelgood "brothers in arms" road tale, spattered with guns, bar brawls, beer, dirty girls, and bikes with its heart in family values, that will keep motorcycle fans revving up with the action." - Self Publishing Review"Ashes and Asphalt teaches many life lessons while being a genuinely interesting read" - Hollywood Book Review
From the Author Hi,The name is ****** ******, but my friends call me Trevor Halloway."Ashes and Asphalt" is an homage to the biking community and to brotherhood. The two main characters (Mike and Kyle Byrne) haven't seen each other in a long time and it takes a father's last wish to bring them together...and yes, hilarity does ensue.I have a slew of other novels in the pike and hope to unleash them unto an unsuspecting world (hopefully in a positive manner).Pull up a sidecar and ride along with the brothers Byrne, but make sure to hold on tight.

Two brothers bringing their father's ashes to South Dakota sounded interesting enough! What I didn't realize though, was that this book was so much more than two brothers' road trip: it consisted of life lessons, adventure, redemption, and not to mention a whole cast of interesting characters. The characters were all well-fleshed out; and the writing language of this novel was natural. Dialogue flowed, and it was easy to get immersed in the story--I felt as if I was present. Though the subject itself--two brothers on a road trip to carry out a specific mission--may seem mundane, it is anything but. There are plenty of action that will keep you engaged and keep the pages turning. One of my favorite things about this book was the flashbacks that the author incorporated. I think it really added to the novel, and gave us a glimpse to what happened before their father's death, and what kind of family and environment they grew up in. Holloway gave us plenty of details about the two boy's childhood: from the time Bill gave Mike a bike... to the time Mike failed the fifth grade, and to how their mother got sick. It added more dimension to the novel, and really allowed me to connect with the characters.Overall, this is an unforgettable book. The right balance between adventure, brotherhood, and life lessons, Trevor Holloway brought to the table an excellent novel. I look forward to reading more from him in the future, but for now, I will leave my highest recommendations for this excellently written novel!

Unfortunately on the way, Bill suffers from a heart attack where he unfortunately doesn’t make it. His last wish was to have his two estranged sons Mike and Kyle spread his ashes at Sturgis. Even though Mike and Kyle had a falling out many years ago and haven’t even wanted to see or talk to each other, they feel it’s only right to fulfil their late father’s wishes. They get out their old motorcycles and travel thousands of miles in just 5 days, where along the way, they get lost, robbed, beaten up, and almost lose not only their father’s ashes at one point but almost their own lives. But through it all, they realize how much family means to them and grow and become closer through it all.It was a very good story. There are “flashback” moments, which I especially loved, where the boys were younger and how they interacted with their father and how certain moments led to where they were in the present. “Wild Bill” seemed like such a good character and I only wish there were a few more flashback moments which he was in. The only criticism I have is it had a ton of characters and it was a little hard to keep track of everyone and who they were in relation to their part of the story. Especially the very beginning, there were so many names being thrown around and it was a little confusing as to who was who, and who the main characters were, and what importance they had to the story.***Review has been done with conjunction with Nerd Girl Official***

By Amazeballs Book Addicts Ashes and Asphalt is a little different type of book then I normally read but after reading a sample, I knew it was a book I wanted to read. It definitely didn't disappoint. The beginning hooked me right me. In the beginning we get to meet Wild Bill and see a little bit of how Bill is. Bill seems like a really cool guy but not one that you want to mess with. Bill's friend Charlie is a good friends and you can just tell how much bill means to him. So, if you read the blurb you know Bill passing away. Knowing he going to pass away doesn't take a way from the his death being emotional. After Bill passes away, his boys (Mike and Kyle) return to town for the funeral. Mike and Kyle do not get along and haven't seen each others in a while. These two really don't get along and I wasn't sure if they were going to end up beating each up. Bill's final wish is that his boys bring his ashes to Sturgis. That is going to be a hard task for Mike and Kyle but it makes for a great story. We get flashback of how if was for Kyle and Mike growing up. I loved that we got flashbacks. The story kept me hooked from the beginning to end. It great story about two likeable brothers that has adventure, sad parts, funny parts, and never a dull moment.
