Is hell real? Can a loving God send someone to hell? Who is going to heaven and hell? What did Jesus say about the Broad Road?

Throughout time, every person who has ever lived has had to deal with the same question: what is going to happen to me when I die? Every civilization that ever existed has some kind of belief system about an afterlife. Unfortunately, many Christian churches today have totally abandoned what is clearly taught in the Bible. We spend much time and treasure (which Jesus commands us to do) on the earthly needs of others, but we are too timid to even mention that they are doomed for eternity if they reject Christ.

Charles Spurgeon said, "If sinners will be damned, at least let them leap to hell over our bodies: and if they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees, imploring them to stay."

This book uses allegory to depict a traveler as he converses with people as they journey on the Broad Road, unsuspecting as to where they are headed. If you're going to die someday or know someone who will, you should read The Broad Road.

"A good piece of work that needs to be heard by today's church."

- Timothy Beougher, associate dean, Billy Graham School of Evangelism at Southern Baptist Seminary.

By Anthony Kummer This book deals directly with a the question of hell - a topic Christians have been slow to mention in recent years. In narrative form, you'll see first how our choices in this life have eternal consequences. This book could spark conversations with skeptics and believers alike. If eternal judgement is real, then we should pay urgent attention to the issues inside this book. Ultimately, the topic of judgement points us to Christ who has taken the judgement on himself so we can be forgiven. The narrative is easy to follow, with helpful discussion questions after each chapter. This would be a good tool for small group studies. The paperback would be better for that, since it has space to write answers to those questions.

Most of the books today that deal with what happens after this life address nice heavenly thoughts or heaven itself. That's good however I believe the market is starving for an honest look at hell. This book tackles the subject head on and does it in an interesting way. As you follow the character on the road you are brought into many of the objections of hell given today and the harsh reality of the place as well. I would highly suggest this book for small groups as a study. If you ever wanted to break the ice with a friend this would be a good book to do that with as well. Great book.

By Indiana Man I was given a copy of this book by a friend, who happens to also be friends with the author. I read the entire book in a single day really enjoyed it. Two other great Christian books came to mind as I made my way through this one. The Pilgrim's Progress (a classic in Christian literature) and C.S. Lewis', The Screwtape Letters. Newell even referenced Lewis' book at one point. Though those two are great works, I actually connected better with this book. I detected a sense of humor Newell has that may be similar in ways to mine. So his writing style captivated me quickly. This was illustrated by his choice of names for some of the characters we meet. A good author will paint images for the mind with words, and he certainly caused me to "see" what he wrote. It was interesting and enjoyable, and if that were all there was to it, I really liked the book. However, the content of this book is wonderful. His treatment of heaven and hell is both Biblical and captivating. The way he addresses modern misconceptions and lies about the true aspects of these two eternal destinations is very clever and educational. My view of the Bible is that it is the absolute truth of God, which He has revealed to us that we might know His will. Newell does an amazing job of explaining the Bible view of Heaven and hell, all the while spinning a delightful story.
