3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful book for children By W. Shallou This is a great activity book for my children. I bought it to use during Advent to teach them more about the Bible and our Catholic faith. The ornaments each have a picture to color with a Bible verse on the opposite side. There are 24 ornaments, 1 for each day of Advent (starting Dec 1st through Dec 24th). There is also a full page description with Bible verses about each topic. It can be used for younger or older children depending on how descriptive you choose to be. My children are 6 years and under. I love it!
4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Beautiful book, very helpful for Advent. By Matt We just received this as a gift for our five year old's birthday. Advent is coming up in a couple of weeks and this will be a fun activity to color and do bible readings from. The drawings are easy to color in and each ornament is about 2 inches in diameter. I'm thinking of getting wooden disks and decoupaging the drawings to them and make ornaments for our Christmas tree.
5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. as I helped edit this fun book and Kathryn is my sister By JML Even though I might be a little biased, as I helped edit this fun book and Kathryn is my sister, I would highly recommend this book for both kids and adults. I learned so much from this wonderful book. Since I had access to this book before it went to print, I got to test it all out and play with it. There are 3 versions of each ornament at the beginning of the book with directions to make them, and also directions to make a tree to hang them on. Then the second half of the book explains each ornament with a short story for children and longer Bible passages, with pictures, for a Biblical in-depth background of the short story. If you want you can make copies of the ornaments so the kids can make more than one each, and while they are coloring and making an ornament, you can read them the short version of the story of the ornament and talk about it. I used the longer Bible passages later as a meditation for myself. Another way to use this book would be to meditate on the longer passages first, before the child makes the ornament, so you can be more prepared when they ask so many questions, like children do. I like this book so much that I have bought each grandchild a book of their own to give to them at the start of Advent, and I'm looking forward so much to spending some quality time with them sharing my faith.
