About the Author Michael Czyzniejewski is the author of three collections of stories: Elephants in Our Bedroom (Dzanc Books, 2009), Chicago Stories: 40 Dramatic Fictions (Curbside Splendor, 2012) and I Will Love You for the Rest of My Life: Breakup Stories (Curbside Splendor, 2015). In 2010, he received a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship for his fiction. He is an assistant professor at Missouri State University and Managing Editor of Moon City Review. He lives in Springfield, Missouri, with his family.

By Ziln This is a good collection of well-written stories, but it might not be for everyone, me included. There are a lot of surreal elements that I felt like I needed to suspend my disbelief for, and that's not really what I was hoping for. I'm a story reader and I appreciate the story first. These are very much stories of ideas primarily, not necessarily stories that focus on plot and narrative as closely as I was hoping. A lot of them are very short to the point that I feel like I need to read them multiple times to unlock them like poems, and I'm not into that as much as I'm into reading longer stories with strong narratives. This is the first of Cyzniejewski's work that I've read, so maybe reading more will grow my appreciation for him.

Atkinson These stories are exactly why I will read any book Czyzniejewski puts out. They're wild, and distinctively wild from each other. Each is it's own animal, full of both humor and heartbreak. The writing is solid even without the strangeness. Taken together, the stories are marvelous.

If you are familiar with his work, or not yet, this book will be a treat that you'll gobble up over and over.
