By max gilles Outstandingly ingenious way to "trick" children into learning how to read. Wireman is not only an interesting story, with some very well done artwork, it is a masterpiece of teaching brillance. The intricate (yet simple) way Sue Stauffacher and company use the written word continues to leave me at a loss for words.The way the story needs no words to be followed, yet allows the reader to grow into the idea of why you should read into a story, is something I have never seen before. It allows for a child of any background to be influenced by this comic.You must give this series a chance! I am not a writer, so I cannot put into words just how clever this series is!If you know a child struggling with reading, especially the motivation aspect, get them Wireman for God's sake!As a psychology student I noticed that it uses all the correct methodologies of true behavior modification, I wonder if anyone on the team is a psychologist or BA student!
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A Unique Experience By dorillion x Wireman.Such an obscure name among the likes of Spiderman or Batman, ect. It's unique, original ; something fresh. The Wireman series achieves something that many comics I've read struggle to accomplish at times. And that's to tell a story that *anyone* can actually enjoy. The art is great, many of the characters are very relatable, and the tone and pacing is done well. Now, the series as a whole is generally beneficial in a sense that it makes young children have the desire to read more, merely to have a deeper understanding of what they're experiencing visually. However, despite having a positive impact directed towards youth, even a huge fan of the more well known and sometimes mature comics can find plenty to enjoy here. There's something special about it that can't really be put into words. Rather I encourage you to try it out for yourself. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Wireman Engages and Inspires Reluctant Readers By Sherry Andrews The Wireman graphic novel series is an excellent instructional tool to inspire reluctant readers. The series features a compelling storyline that will captivate upper elementary and middle school students. I had the privilege of presenting Wireman to a group of eighth-grade boys, several who struggled with reading, and the results were incredible. What began as a small group of four male students who gathered for lunch to receive academic support and complete assignments blossomed into a 20 member peer-peer Wireman book club. The boys met every day during lunch to read and engage in fascinating discourse regarding the copious adventures in Wireman. Each volume is fast-paced and utilizes just enough text to engage both reluctant and avid readers. I highly recommend adding copies of Wireman to the personal or classroom library of any student who has yet to find the joy of reading.
