Excellent defense of the New Covenant being for Israel only By Stuart Wallis Dr. Cone's work on the subject of the New Covenant being for Israel only and in no way for the Church is compelling. Although he is in the minority opinion he makes a great argument that the Church is not participating in the blessings of the New Covenant but rather is participating in the blessings of the seventh element of the Abrahamic Covenant, namely "in you all the nations of the earth will be blessed" which was achieved by the death of Christ. For the Church (in any way) to participate in the spiritual blessings of the New Covenant is unsubstantiated by a literal-historical grammatical hermeneutic and is further unnecessary. Dr. Cone is not arguing semantics but a literal interpretation of Scripture. While it is true that all Covenants to Israel stem from the Abrahamic they are all mutually exclusive. The only element of any Covenant to Israel that the Church benefits from is found in Genesis 12:3 as cited above. This is a thought provoking study and breaks away from the status quo dispensational view. This is an excellent read and a great study. Stuart Wallis.

As one who has spent 47+ years researching this critical issue/subject, I'm in agreement with the book's premise. A great deal of the confusion in Christendom began with well-meaning but misguided "Church Fathers" who labeled the last 27 books of the Canon the "New Testament" or "New Covenant."

Each chapter is self-contained and the overall project is very well done. The authors do a wonderful job presenting different views and being fair to represent those views accurately.
