1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. like so many women By Laura Wilkinson At last, an easy-to-read, informative yet personal guide to the period before, during, and after menopause. In my middle years, this time of change looms and yet, like so many women, I knew virtually nothing about the 'change' aside from that which I'd gleaned from snide jokes about hot flushes. Until now. Having read this fabulous book (I edited it), I feel fully prepared for whatever awaits, both physically and mentally. And I thoroughly enjoyed the read - something I did not expect given my terror at the prospect of menopause. I am a complete baby, despite my years. Sarah Rayner's style is chatty, personal, like talking to a mate - she'd been through this herself and so she really does know what she's talking about. Plus, the book has clearly been thoroughly researched and has been written with the help of a doctor so it's jam-packed with useful tips, anecdotes, and, brilliantly, links for further information and reading should you require it. Every woman experiences menopause and this wonderful guide is well overdue. Thank you, Ms Rayner. Oh, there's also a Facebook page - a place to talk and share experiences and ideas.

Although it is written from a British perspective, as an American woman I got a lot from it. I am going through perimenopause and it is good to know I am not alone. The author also has a closed Facebook group page for readers. I am a member and the women provide wonderful support to one another. This is a must read.

By Mrs. Zoe Woodward Sarah and Patrick have succeeded in making a gem of a book for all women who are approaching or going through the menopause. It is a very comfortable book to read, like chatting to a friend, and provides a real sense of reassurance that you're not the only one in the world who feels like you do. The material is thoroughly researched and covers all aspects of the menopause, so by the end of the book you really feel that you have a good all-round knowledge and understanding of what will inevitably happen, or is happening, to your body. I would recommend all women to read this book, and even men should - as surely they would benefit from a greater understanding of this time of life for the women they live with or work with. Knowledge is power, after all.
