Reni really shows you how easy it is to make healthy food choices that will energize you and provide better athletic performance.

By Tiffany deSilva I received an advanced complimentary copy of "Eat Like a Champ" and it provides a solid foundation for active people who are looking to build a healthy lifestyle. Reni Towns eloquently explains why working out is not enough if you really want to be healthy, increase your energy, improve your performance, and just feel great. She goes beyond the usual cookie-cutter approach to diet and exercise and walks you through creating a plan that will work for you. She's also included many quick and easy recipes to get you started on the right track, even if you're short on time or just not fond of spending hours cooking. This book is a great jump-start for the active individual who is looking to improve his or her overall well-being through healthy eating.

Useful nutrition advice for the everyday athlete By LCR Very informative and easy to read book for active individuals that have a fitness routine in place, but may be lacking knowledge in the nutrition department.This quote from chapter 1 sums up the purpose of the book nicely – “Instead of using exercise as a solution to poor eating habits, good nutrition should be considered a critical piece of the puzzle along with fitness to help improve the overall health and wellness of the Everyday Athlete.” I agree that to have good health you have to incorporate both into your life.Chapter 3 discusses other important factors to consider, such as Mindfulness (being present and practicing awareness when it comes to our food choices), Bi0-individuality (there is no one-diet-for-all; food choices have to be customized for each person and their individual needs), Crowding-out (one of the best ways to eliminate bad food choices and substitute with better and healthier ones), and Real Food (eating whole food with very little processing or alteration and additives).Using her experience as a multi-sport athlete, Reni creates a strategy for the reader and sets up a game plan on how to incorporate healthy habits into one’s life in Chapter 5. Great advice for the reader to follow since the areas of nutrition and health can at times seem overwhelming to grasp. If you want a quick overview of the concepts discussed in detail in Ch. 5, Chapter 6 provides just that.The book also has several easy recipes and she incorporates a food journal that makes it very easy for the reader to start tracking his/her meals.I highly recommend this book if you want guidance on how to banish the junk food and eat more nutrient dense meals. She makes a great case and uses her own personal experience on how you can’t get by on exercise alone – if you want to live a healthy life, nutrition is something none of us can ignore. Please note, I reviewed a complimentary copy of the book.
