11 of 11 people found the following review helpful. I did enjoy this book about learning to live and love again ... By Clein I did enjoy this book about learning to live and love again after grief. It has a very clear Christian message. You should know though that it is a very detailed book, even in ways that don't move the story forward. If that bothers you, this won't be the book for you. There are a lot of characters in this book. This made me occasionally have to think hard to determine who it was talking about. Even though this is listed as a trilogy, the ending to the book is satisfying, It could be read as a stand-alone.

I was delighted to discover Karen Marstaller By Lillian Rountree As a fan of Jan Karon or Lisa Wingate, I was delighted to discover Karen Marstaller. Be prepared to lose sleep though because you won't want to put her first novel down. Karen so draws you into the extended family relationships of Callahans that you feel the splashes of water at the pool party, smell the flowers in the prayer garden and taste the heroine's cooking with the ranch hands. Plot twists keep the action moving and the hope-filled, nostalgic mood is balanced with thoughtful character development. Foreshadowing leads down unpredictable paths and left me anticipating a second novel. I felt fully satisfied with good things minus the calories at the end and hungering for more.
