"Yoga emphasizes on a warm up that gently raises your heart beat and sun salutation is a perfect exercise for this purpose. Surya namaskar or sun salutation is a series of 12 postures meant to be performed in a flow. As the name suggests, surya namaskar is to be done ideally in the morning while facing the sun. By Amazon Customer While I don't wish to give this book a bad review, I'd like to point out some things that weren't even touched upon in other reviews. In fact when I read the reviews before buying which is my normal practice, I got the distinct impression that many of the reviews were staged in order to promote the book. I realize this is nothing new, but it was just an observation. First off this a short book that contains good information in a concise form, but still information that is available in many places for free. Second, there are no pictures or diagrams to aid the reader in visualizing the poses, which I accept given the reasonable price of this Ebook. Finally, and my biggest complaint, is the claim that this is for beginners. From the very first words of explanation about the warmup exercises, not the poses themselves but warmup exercises, I knew this was simply another book among hundreds explaining yoga exercises in terms of what the posture should be for a seasoned stretcher with already good flexibility. For example, the third stage of the warm up exercise, the sun salutation, tells the reader to bend forward at the waist, keeping the back straight and place your palms flat on the ground. Can one in a hundred individuals actually do this? Perhaps I am extraordinarily inflexible, but I've been practicing simple stretches for many months and I am pleased that I can now bend forward at the waist and after a minute or so touch my fingertips to the ground. In fairness to the author, they do state that our body's limitations are mostly limitations of the mind, and implicit in this is the understanding that with practice these postures can be achieved. I still would ask any potential beginning yoga student, particularly men, to bend at the waste and place their palms flat on the ground as one of their first yoga postures. I acknowledge I am being a bit picky, but I've spent enough of my hard earned money as a physical laborer searching for a true beginner's yoga book for those like myself who may attain the ability to do these postures in their pure form after years of practice, but who in the mean time need truly "beginning" instructions on postures or modifications to postures made for us beginners.

By practicing Yoga one can achieve the union of mind, body and soul. Yoga can also ease stress and relieved our body pain in some ways or another. This book introduces us to the four paths of yoga and further explains each path. I have read many books about Yoga and this is also one of those informative books I've read. It is written so precise and clear. The book also has tips on how to start a Yoga practice. There are a lot of them but first in the list is to find a place which is ventilated enough in nature. Second, find the most convenient time on when you prefer to do your Yoga session. Next, have your own mat. Those are just few to remember in starting the Yoga sessions. You must read this guide for more. I really find this book very helpful.

It features yoga positions in varying levels of difficulty. Although it would have been nice if it had some illustrations, the instructions for each position was quite clear and easy to follow. I understand that yoga classes can be quite expensive, so this is a good alternative for those who are willing to try them at home. Great for those whose schedules are packed but still want to squeeze in a little exercise. Can't wait to try these myself.
