Review Pastor Bill Randles has touched on a subject of great importance today. The re-emergence of the Latter Rain Movement with its aberrant theology and careless eschatology is deceiving many within the ranks of Pentecostalism and Charismaticism. When this doctrine first emerged in the 1940's it was rightly challenged by the mainstream Pentecostal denominations. Today it is finding greater acceptance among those denomination's pastors, and has made great inroads among their national leadership. The deception never really died; it went underground to await the day when sound doctrine would be of little concern amount the leadership of the churches. This book should help the uninformed as well as those already aware of this deception to understand the threat posed by today's self proclaimed "apostles" and "prophets." About the Author Bill Randles is the pastor of Believers in Grace Fellowship church, which he pioneered from his own home in 1982. He is also the author of three books, all of which speak to different aspects of the current "signs and wonders" revival, which Pastor Randles believes, presents a dangerous and misleading substitute for orthodox Christianity. Making War in the Heavenlies, addresses the spiritual warfare error; Weighed and Found Wanting: Putting the Toronto Blessing in Context, which seeks to bring insight into the roots of the so-called "Laughing Revival"; and his latest book, Beware the New Prophets, is a caution regarding the Prophetic Movement. Pastor Randles is also a husband and the father of six children. He has preached the Gospel in Africa, India, and the United Kingdom as well as pastoring for 18 years.

Excellent handling of the topic By Joanne Hanson (joannehanson@compuserve.com) Pastor Randles has done a straight-forward job of discussing the "new" religious movements of today's Pentecostal/Evangelicals. Well documented scripture references have been the basis of his every arguement. He has made an excellent case for his point. The book is well worth reading by any Christian who is serious about his walk with Christ.

Pastor Randles was able to address the biblical perspective on the gift of prophecy, without having to base his arguments in philosophy or subjective experience. For those involved with the Kansas City movement, or were involved with the Latter Rain movement, this will give you a new perspective on how these so called "prophets" stand up to the test of scripture.

Abney I found this book to be the best on this subject.If you are a person who believes in modern day prophets or wish to know what some believe in some penecostal and charismatic churches then this book is a must read.The author of this book is a penecostal minister who has the gift of discernment.
