Adventure and Romance With a Paranormal Twist By Believer In "Choices" the third book in the "The Blackthorne Saga" Delaine Christine blends romance, faith and the paranormal into an innovative and entertaining story that begins after Ciara Biardon's husband is murdered and she discovers that the subject matter and characters in the novels she's writing are all real. On the run with her three children she finds a safe haven on the Blackthorne Ranch in Kalispell, Montana with Rafe Blackthorne and his family only to face a prophecy that could rupture their peace.The plot centers around Ciara Biardon (aka Inara Ravencroft) gifted with a "knowing" spirit whose fictional stories are real. When her husband is killed she goes on the run from an organization that wants to use the gifts that she and her children possess only to end up at the Blackthorne Ranch with Rafe and his family who are also hiding their unique abilities. Although Ciara finds a safe haven her worries have only just begun. In an emotional roller-coaster ride she has to confront the backlash of a prophecy that's creating a rift between Dartanian Blackthorne and his wife Lylia, painful memories, as well as her fear when held hostage by a violent foreman looking for revenge.Not only does the story deal with the consequences of choices made whether in the pages of Ciara's books or in the lives of the Blackthornes, but it sends strong messages about faith; trusting God, looking to Him for answers, and confession of sin. Exciting, the tension and suspense mount as events unfold that lead to an explosive confrontation when the Blackthornes find the man holding Ciara hostage.The characters are far from perfect, each one having to face their flaws and faults with every new problem they face. Quiet, good-natured Ciara Biardon having lost a husband, uprooted from her home and leaving all her possessions behind except for her three children quickly develops a stubborn, outspoken and feisty nature. Rafe Blackthorne (aka David Shepherd) an ex-CIA agent who's hiding his family's abilities can be mule-headed but is also competent, strong and faithful. Like all the characters Ciara and Rafe infuse a strong sense of faith, energy and drama into the story.I enjoyed "Choices" that begins with a child's drawing and a vision of her future. I look forward to reading the first two books in the series.

Outside of the few grammatical errors in the novel, I really enjoyed it. Through the whole story I couldn't figure out who Inara was going to end up being in a relationship with (out of 2 particular male characters) if any at all, and was pleasantly surprised with the ending.
