I bought it at LA Zine fest because the cover looked cool and it looked like a real comic book. Once I read it, my mind was blown. It was the first indie comic I read that was actually good. It gave me the inspiration/confidence to belivie that I can write comics.

The story is highly relatable for anyone who considers themselves an artist of any kind, and unconventional... romance? dare I call it that? is one I can't wait to read through to the conclusion. Definitely worth a go!

Are you looking for a smart and easy solution to eliminating the sugar in your diet?

Sugar Detox Simplified

Have you been trying to drop your sugar habit but continue to fail miserably? Sugar is hidden in almost every food you eat. Actually, sugar is in every food you eat and the key is in knowing what is bad sugar and what is good sugar.

Then it comes down to understanding how much of the good sugar to keep in your diet. You will discover exactly this when going through a sugar detox because the dietary changes you make are the ones you stick with going forward.

Sugar Addiction Is No Laughing Matter

The author has been through his own sugar detox twice because he didn’t take the power of sugar addiction seriously the first time. It is easy to fool ourselves into thinking we got it all figured out and have “cured” ourselves.

What is even scarier is the number of people who have a sugar addiction, but do not realize it. People have no idea that the excess amount of sugar in their diets isn’t actually normal. Only through the dietary changes of a sugar detox can we learn what “normal” really means when it comes to leading a sugar free life.

This would explain why the CDC has stated that millions of people are on the verge of having diabetes and don’t even know it. Type 2 diabetes is preventable for the most part and yet it is becoming an epidemic. This all stems from consuming excessive amounts of sugar and not realizing the harm it does to our bodies.

Defining A Sugar Free Life

You need a solution to your blood sugar rollercoaster ride. A sugar detox is the start of that solution. A sugar free lifestyle is the way you manage the addiction. The easiest way to control your addiction is to understand why you turn to sugary foods first.

This comes through the journaling you will do during the detox. While the food you eat creates the sugar your body craves, it is your habits that feed your sugar addiction. The only way to discover your habits is to keep track of what you eat, when you eat it and how much of it you eat. You also record how you feel and what triggers the cravings for sugar.

When you discover these things, you remove the purpose of drinking all that pop and eating all that candy. Eating unhealthy has no purpose other than making you unhealthy. You most likely do not wake up every day with the goal of becoming even unhealthier.

The sugar detox is very simple to follow and with consistency, leading a sugar free life is just what you will do daily. You will no longer have to battle sugar because it will not be a part of your life. Being sugar free becomes your habit and stuffing yourself with three chocolate bars just will not make sense anymore.

About the Author Who is Darrin Wiggins? Darrin Wiggins is a best-selling weight loss and self-help author who has a passion for helping people change their lives. He spent over a decade helping people improve the quality of their life through goal coaching them to become more than they believed possible. He wanted to find a way to reach more people so he decided to share his knowledge by becoming a full-time writer. The passion for personal development books comes from the results he saw people getting with the goal setting work they were doing. Ordinary people were creating the lives of their dreams by focusing on their goals. By following the advice of the greats like Tony Robbins and Brian Tracy, Darrin now enjoys the life many people only dream of. His interest in weight loss turned into a passion after he lost 45 pounds in 12 weeks healthily and naturally by customizing a diet for himself. His personal weight loss success is the driving force behind the weight loss books he writes today. There is a diet out there that will give you the results you are looking for, but it takes trial and error. By combining self-help, goal setting and weight loss, people can tackle the internal issues that typically cause weight gain in the first place. Once a person discovers why they eat the way they eat, they can start the healing process and then focus on diet. Trying to lose weight when you are not emotionally healthy does not usually end with success. Once they combine emotional health and diet with goal setting there really is nothing they cannot accomplish both with their body and their life. He hopes his books truly inspire people to live healthy, think wealthy and discover their own definition of happiness. The life of your dreams is inside you and you deserve to live it.

Well Balanced and Informative By Jeanie Sugar Addiction Mastery is a great book for anyone who is just thinking about detoxing and getting their bodies all cleaned out. This book is not for the faint-hearted and the author takes their time to explain all of the difficult situations one might face by detoxing and getting off sugar. But they also discuss all the benefits you will have once you completely detox and get the body clean and free from sugars. Well balanced and informative!

This author may seem unassuming but he's a genius when it comes to matters of faith. There are some of the best stories, essays and arguments for and about faith that I've ever read in this here book. It is faith based but there is a whole lotta hope in it too. No matter what your faith, I think this book will inspire you and if you don't have faith, this book can give ya some. I read it on a day I was feelin' low and it perked me right up. That alone is a blessing.

By Lori Dubelyoo While different from this author's other books in this genre (Finding God in A Chaotic World and Finding God without Religion).it is still a good read. What Faith has Taught Me is more personal and has a series of insights honed from life experiences instead of the revelations based insights & prophecy in the two books mentioned. For the most part, the book is about faith and what faith can create in one's life. An insightful, learning experience that touched my heart.

PDF Ebook In the Wake of the Flagship, by Fredrick Barton

Continuing the story started in The El Cholo Feeling Passes, Barton's newest novel finds college basketball coach Richard Janus in an unlikely position: he has recently become the interim rector of Urban University, the woefully underfunded public college of Choctaw, Alkansea. When Choctaw is devastated by a major hurricane, Janus must battle with the unscrupulous heads of flagship ASU to keep Urban, the school he loves, from closing its doors forever. Told through the eyes of Metacom, the legendary Indian sachem of King Philip's War, Flagship is a blistering (and often hilarious) examination of the contradictions implicit in the American experience.

Review Barton has a lot of important human business on his mind in this exceptional novel: race, history, the South, hurricanes, laughter, love, and much more. IN THE WAKE OF THE FLAGSHIP is wonderfully inventive, and addictive to read. --Richard FordRick Barton's IN THE WAKE OF THE FLAGSHIP brilliantly turns the historical novel on its head. At once hilarious, thought-provoking, and ultimately tragic, this novel is an opus, the work of a writer at the peak of his powers. --Joseph Boyden, Author of The OrendaIN THE WAKE OF THE FLAGSHIP is absorbing, head-turning, absolutely brilliant. --Gary B. Nash, author of The Unknown American Revolution

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Flagship is like reading two novels at once By Gregory C. Alexander Barton’s latest novel features the return of Richard Janus, the popular hero of Barton’s first novel, The El Cholo Feeling Passes. And the 30-year wait was well worth it. Readers don’t have to read (or reread) El Cholo to appreciate Flagship. All they really need to know is that Janus never finished his PhD dissertation on King Philip’s War, so the legendary Metacom (aka King Philip) decides to write it for him. And since Janus never got around to telling Metacom’s story, Metacom decides to tell Janus’s. And what a story is is! Flagship is like reading two novels at once, both of which are totally engrossing. Chapters alternate between Metacom’s story of his people’s abuse at the hands of the conquering English and Janus’s frustrations in the face of academic bureaucracy and political incompetence as he tries to save his beloved university from dissolution in the aftermath of devastating Hurricane Hosea. Readers who enjoy first rate historical fiction and political satire will love this book. And they’ll root for both Metacom and Janus as they both strive against impossible odds to save their cultures from annihilation.

His story provides such a funny, delightful look (expose!) of university life. I especially loved the parallel structure and the writer's creative choice of narrator. For anyone who has ever taught or studied at a state university in the midst of a financial crisis, this book is a must-read. Whether or not you know this world well, In the Wake of the Flagship will surely make you laugh and teach you a thing or two about history.

James Bennett, psychotherapist, examines the concept of Hell from original perspectives. “Allow the stories, pictures and images in my book to sit with you and speak to you; they will spark associations and open doors in unexpected ways.” • Many in recovery from illness, trauma or addiction say they are “going through hell”. Could the ancient stories of mythological journeys through hades become helpful guidebooks when translated into modern psychological terms? Might also heaven and hell represent an intellect and body that have become polarised and destructively antagonistic? Bennett states “The purpose of this book is to heal the split between heaven and earth, in ourselves and in all cultures".

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Having a deep love and fascination for the descent and ascent of Persephone ... By Maria Ede-Weaving Mythological journeys to the Underworld exist in many different cultures. Their recurrence suggests their importance and necessity with regard to human experience. Psychotherapist James Bennett explores this subject in his book Underworld & Archetypes.Having a deep love and fascination for the descent and ascent of Persephone in Greek Mythology, I was delighted to have the opportunity to review this book. I have long-held the belief that these stories of Underworld journeys, although on one level are metaphors for seasonal changes, also speak much about our own moments of crisis. I resonated wholeheartedly with the book’s message that despite the pain and struggle that accompany such dark and difficult psychological descents, there is a deep value in the process with much to be gained.James’ book is written in three sections. The first deals with Western Culture’s problematic fixation with transcendence; inherent in this obsession is the valuing of heaven above the earthly realms. This troubling polarisation has led to a perception of the material worlds of earth, underworld and body as inferior, flawed and even evil. James explores the psychological impetus that drives this split between spirit and matter, and illustrates how this unhealthy dissociation from the earthly realms severs us from our deepest sources of wisdom and growth. The second section examines the myths of descent and reveals how these can be useful tools in encouraging us to positively engage with our own times of loss, grief and change. The third section entitled ‘The Space Between’, discusses the importance of liminality in human experience; how change and transition are a constant factor in life. James reminds us that these liminal places are fertile with potential; thresholds where the known substance of our being – our understanding of the world and self – can dissolve and reform, triggering profound transformation and growth.James’ book will resonate with many on the Druid path. Druidry seeks to heal the split between spirit and matter, and the intimate connection Druidry fosters with the earth and its seasonal changes allows us to recognise that death and the descent are crucial to renewal and growth, whether it be in the natural world or within our own psyches.A psychotherapist of many years’ experience, it is clear that James understands deeply our reticence to trust in this challenging process – there is nothing romantic or fun about pain and suffering – however, this great little book is both a useful signpost and a source of reassurance, suggesting that we are well-equipped for the journey, that the descent is a core part of our humanity and an experience we will all share.Underworld and Archetypes is short in length but massive in wisdom. James Bennett writes with clarity and insight about a complex and intriguing subject. It is a perfect introduction to anyone unfamiliar with these fascinating myths and how they might serve to guide and enlighten our path. It is also an inspiring read for those veterans of the Underworld amongst us who know the myths and have the lived the journey but might need an encouraging reminder of its gifts. With a fascinating Bibliography and some lovely illustrations, Underworld and Archetypes is an enjoyable read I highly recommend.

Combining clear and nicely composed language with amazing imagery really brings the wisdom contained here into focus. If you want to explore the "other" side of a light-seeking culture, the Yin, the dark feminine, darkness as source, inner riches, grounding and depth, this book is for you.

Writing under the pseudonym Neil Gordon, A. G. Macdonell wrote several crime and thriller novels. In the classic genre of ’20s and ’30s crime fiction,Macdonell managed to introduce a different element, unusual twists that keep the reader captivated and anxious to discover what came next. The Shakespeare Murders is another example of Macdonell’s carefully thought-through detective stories, where the detective is aided by the star of the cast. Peter Kerrigan saw a pickpocket take the wallet of a shabby little man, and with speed and precision he stole from the thief. Peter was a handsome gentleman-adventurer ― not too scrupulous ― and before he returned the pocketbook he read the letter which it contained. It was so that he heard of the million pound treasure, and began the search which was to lead him through so many horrors. At Marsh Manor he found the police trying to solve a murder, and lent somewhat grudging assistance; three more violent deaths followed rapidly. The working out of the solution to the mystery, and the final disposition of the treasure are brilliantly satisfying. The strictly logical framework of the book is filled in witty and entertaining fashion with strange and amusing characters. Macdonell uses his usual skill, well-dosed with ingenious twists, and a fast moving story-line, to keep the reader riveted to the book. Chase, conspiracy, and American gangsters add to the excitement of solving the Shakespeare riddle.

The Shakespeare Murders (Fonthill Complete A. G. Macdonell), by A. G MacDonell

About the Author A. G. Macdonell, (1895-1941) was a journalist and satirical novelist. Without doubt his best-known work was England Their England, but the success of this overshadows his other books, many of which were classics in their own way. The Autobiography of a Cad must surely rank as one of the funniest books ever written and Lords and Masters is a cutting and hard-hitting satire with frightening prescience, foreseeing the Second World War as inevitable. His American trip in 1934 is amusingly related in A Visit to America, but his other non-fiction is also powerful and beautifully written, with his highly-regarded Napoleon and his Marshals providing one of the best accounts of the Napoleonic Wars in one single volume. Macdonell also write crime and crime-thriller novels under the pseudonyms of Neil Gordon and John Cameron. These titles are included in the 16 books to be published by Fonthill in the Complete A. G. Macdonell Series.

By Ginny This is very well written with interesting characters -- both villains and charming rogues as well as haughty aristocrats -- and a lot of interesting details. Action is never slow and the plot is plausible and well developed albeit with a few twists which are a bit of a stretch. Reading about the American thugs as opposed to the gentlemanly Brits is amusing and the links to various Shakespeare plays are well done.

Joseph Smith wasn’t merely the Book of Mormon’s prophetic translator—he was also a student of the sacred record. Schooling the Prophet offers evidence that the Latter-day Saint prophet was quietly influenced by one of the most important sources of religious thought and sacred protocol that he knew—the Book of Mormon—on issues such as the nature of God, priesthood, and the temple.

Review

“Gerald Smith asks a pertinent question: How did the Book of Mormon influence Joseph Smith’s restoration? He has thought long and hard about the issue and gives us here the results of his investigations. His answer: From temple culture and the priesthood to the doctrine of God and baptism, the Book of Mormon profoundly shaped the doctrines and practices of the restored church.” –Richard L. Bushman, Gouverneur Morris Professor Emeritus of History, Columbia University, and author of  Joseph Smith: Rough Stone Rolling“Painstakingly researched and carefully written, Gerald Smith's Schooling the Prophet shows how deep—as the subtitle of the book states—was the influence of the Book of Mormon on Joseph Smith and the early restoration. Gerald Smith's study demonstrates how profoundly—and paradoxically, since Joseph Smith only occasionally cited it—the Book of Mormon shaped early Latter-day Saint theology and practice, including baptism, the sacrament, the temple, and the concept of Zion. Warmly to be recommended.” —Stephen D. Ricks, Professor of Hebrew and Cognate Learning, Brigham Young University“With great attention to historical detail, this book brings to light the critical and often overlooked influence the Book of Mormon had on the restoration of the priesthood, church administration, temple, and other ordinances revealed to Joseph Smith. Gerald Smith’s portrayal of the Prophet’s schooling illuminates a pattern God still uses to teach his children.” —Barbara Morgan, Director of Boston LDS Institute and Assistant Professor of Religion, Brigham Young University

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Scholarly for scholars, yet faith-promoting for believers By Coco T This was a terrific book. As a practicing Mormon, I found the book to be really insightful and faith-building, as it confirmed and expanded on my own general assumptions and understandings of the Prophet Joseph's use of and relationship to the Book of Mormon - ideas which seem obvious after years of Sunday School and scripture study, yet hadn't been researched or articulated in my mind, or in print that I knew of prior to reading this book.I'd imagine it's a tough balance appealing to a variety of audiences: both non-Mormon and Mormon, scholarly and non-scholarly. I can't say how a non-Mormon would receive the book, but I like that even though it's written by a Mormon it's tone is more geared to everyone. I found the research to be of excellent quality and depth, and I liked the use of sources which draw from LDS sources but also broader Hebrew and historical scholarship. Above all, this book makes a scholarly contribution, while also - for believers - adds to one's understanding of their own faith. And that's a great combination!

Dr. Smith’s approach to Schooling the Prophets is impressive and refreshingly thought provoking. He seamlessly weaves Latter-day Saint history, scripture, and insight to create a compelling thesis regarding the Book of Mormon and its influence on the restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, particularly its influence on Joseph Smith. All those that would like a deeper understanding and appreciation for the Book of Mormon and its translator should read this book. While the text is focused on Mormon ideologies, those from any religion can learn about a unique era in American religious history. Indeed, while Mormonism is sometimes misunderstood, Dr. Smith allows readers from all faiths and backgrounds to learn and identify with one seeking insight and guidance from a religious text. Dr. Smith is an articulate scholar who has an incredible amount of knowledge to contribute to any religious studies curriculum.
