The author calls this a POC, or a "proof of concept" guide, and the book offers a general overview about the deployment of a Microsoft-based data center, from racking of bare-metal servers in the data center to the final deployment of virtual machines. The person I bought this e-book for (the head of my company's IT department) found it useful, but he hates writing product reviews, although he believed that a good basic description of this book would help others find it more easily on Amazon. Here's a breakdown of each of the six chapters: Chapter 1: Design and planning Chapter 2: Deploying the management cluster Chapter 3: Configuring network infrastructure Chapter 4: Configuring storage infrastructure Chapter 5: Configuring compute infrastructure Chapter 6: Configuring network virtualization

In June of 2009, my son was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. In October of 2011, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. The author's writing style is easy, like being part of an interesting conversation. The subject matter is tough. I read on the subway and more than once I had to close the book and hide my teary eyes. The tough bits need to be read though - I think it will make me a better person and a better friend to the many people I know dealing with cancer.While reading any book I always decide who the ideal reader of the book would be, who I recommend reading the book. About half way through this book I realized that the first audience I picked - anyone dealing with childhood cancer - wasn't the only ideal audience. The ideal reader is anyone who has had a family or friend deal with any type of cancer so basically anyone. This book opened my eyes to the little things of cancer that are horrible. I knew about the biggies - chemo, radiation, hair loss - but not the insults to injury: the hours spent in waiting rooms, possible chemo complications and dealing with a new normal once the cancer is "gone".

If that wasn’t overwhelming enough, 2 years later she herself was diagnosed with breast cancer. This book takes the reader through an incredible journey as Geri and Maddox, along with the support of a loving family, struggle, battle and fight tooth and nail to defeat this disease...and WIN! A definite page turner, you can’t help but fall in love with this family as they search for those small moments of joy while enduring a veritable hell on earth. A truly inspirational story that spotlights just how precious and fragile life can be, while also proving to yourself how you can find strength you never knew you had to fight for every cherished moment of it.

For a mother to have endured so much while her son was battling cancer and then to be faced with a cancer diagnosis herself...absolutely devastating! However, this book is an inspirational story of how a family can be so strong in the face of such unimaginable circumstances. The reader gains incredible insight as to the daily struggles and hope a family is faced with when a doctor gives the dreaded "c" diagnosis. The triumph over cancer for both Maddox and Geri makes this sorry a must read.

And this is it: Way too short!There were some wonderful ideas in this book, some really funny stuff going on here. But, the stories are short and they go by so fast. Too fast. I often felt like I wanted more.There is, for example, a funny story about a car pool that could have been much, much longer. I wanted to get to know all the weird companions of the narrator, but they were each given a quick nod and it was on to the next one.The best story is "Thieves, Thieves, Thieves". I devoured that one!If you're into office humor or if you work in an office and need a bit of humor to make it through your day, this is the book for you.

Funny and original By D Miller I really enjoyed this book, it is funny and full of good ideas, and anyone who is, or has ever been, a wage slave will relate to the stories. My only criticism would be that only the narrator and the appalling chief executive, ever really come into focus as characters. I think it would have been a better book with more characterisation and exploration of the supporting cast.The variety, quality and originality of the author's ideas, fresh writing plus recognisable and grotesque scenarios make this book a fun read, if uncomfortably close to the truth sometimes, for those of us who have been there.

That should give you an idea how funny this book is. It was a pretty quick read so it was perfect for me to read on a cold, rainy day cuddled up inside. I really enjoyed it a lot and my family got the added benefit of me reading the really funny parts to them (this was after me busting out laughing and them asking, "What's so funny this time?"). All in all, a super cute, funny book. It really made me thankful that I'm in the education industry and I don't work in an office!

Good background information By webgirl This is definitely beginners book and really needed a better proof reading as there are some words that run together. Overall, the majority of the book goes through the benefits and possible issues of an intermittent fasting diet. I was glad to see that it mentions the downside for us women. Fasting (and pretty everything it seems) can cause our hormone levels to get out of wack. I have struggled with my weight for years and I am getting close to knocking on 50's door. Dieting is hard and I love food. Intermittent fasting if done carefully and for short periods I believe can be beneficial and doable for someone like me that has no willpower. You still can eat a good selection of foods; just spacing meals out further. The book reference several intermittent fasting plans and offered links to the information. The book never really gave a plan itself. It was more background information. Good information but you would probably want to check out some of the dieting plans that were referenced.

That is, it's short, not very comprehensive, and compiled largely from personal opinion and public sources of information (this one in particular lacked grammar, too). Then again, the book is free, and it does provide a satisfactory introduction to intermittent fasting and some popular ways of doing so. Afterward, I felt it to be worth reading.So, my thanks goes out to the book's author. I am grateful for your work.

The book shows several methods of fasting and explains pros and cons of all of them. Very good guide for beginners who wants to understand the reasons and effects of fasting and needs to know how to start form the right thing.

Este libro es el primer libro de habla hispana que aporta a los profesionales que trabajan con niños, información actualizada sobre la traumatización compleja en niños y sobre la forma en la que la exposición a violencia y negligencia crónica a edad temprana en el contexto de las relaciones familiares, afecta el desarrollo. En su primera parte brinda una explicación sobre qué es trauma, cómo se puede entender el trauma en la infancia, cuáles son los parámetros de un buen desarrollo y cómo este se ve afectado por la exposición a tales situaciones. Provee además información actualizada sobre el diagnóstico propuesto de trastorno traumático del desarrollo y la función del apego en la alteración permanente de la respuesta de alarma ante el peligro cuando la fuente del mismo proviene de los cuidadores. About the Author Sandra Baita es psicóloga clínica egresada de la Universidad Nacional de Buenos Aires. Ha realizado un Posgrado en Clínica de Niños en la misma Universidad y una especialización en Trauma Psicológico y Catástrofes, en la Sociedad Argentina de Psicotrauma. Tempranamente completó su formación clínica a partir de su ingreso a distintos equipos de trabajo de la Dirección General de la Mujer del Gobierno de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, donde trabajó por 15 años en programas relacionados con el diagnóstico y tratamiento de la violencia hacia niños, niñas y adolescentes. Posteriormente completó su formación como Terapeuta certificada EMDR y supervisora certificada. Desde el año 2003 forma parte del Comité de Niños y Adolescentes de la International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation, de la que además es Fellow Member. Ha dictado capacitaciones, entrenamientos intensivos, conferencias, seminarios y workshops sobre: diagnóstico y tratamiento del maltrato y abuso sexual infantil, trauma complejo en la infancia y en la edad adulta, disociación en la infancia y en la edad adulta, y trastornos del apego en Universidades, Congresos y Conferencias Internacionales de Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, Estados Unidos, España y Holanda. Es autora de artículos y capítulos de libros sobre el tema. Actualmente se dedica a la docencia, supervisión y a la práctica clínica privada en la ciudad de Buenos Aires, Argentina

Un libro claro y profundo acerca del diagnostico y tratamiento de niños y niñas traumatizados. Es una guía indispensable para todos los psicólogos, trabajadores sociales y psiquiatras que trabajan con niños y adultos no solo victimas sino también sobrevivientes de traumas del apego, maltrato y Abuso Sexual Infantil, sino también en relación a pacientes que han sufrido trastornos del apego. Una mirada y un recorrido a la bibliográfica internacional así como herramientas diagnosticas como escalas y artículos online. Los aportes en relación a intervenciones terapéuticas concretas, con casos clínicos, así como plan de acción a realizar con las instituciones educativas, hogares y la familia completan la profundidad del libro y la obligatoriedad de que todos los profesionales profundicemos y ampliemos nuestra mirada a la traumatizacion infantil tan negada en el mundo de los adultos.

From the Author I am normally a comic book artist, but I started this anthology project to gather together women in comics to create something fun for a good cause. Women from every level of comics experience were welcome to participate, and we ended up with over 150 contributors ranging from age 5 to over 70! It's been an amazing experience, and I hope everyone who buys this book knows just how much you're supporting female creators in comics and their work! Thank you!

About the Author Renae De Liz is a comic book artist (recently of the New York Times Bestselling graphic novel "The Last Unicorn") as well as the adaptation of Anne Rice's "Servant of the Bones. In 2011 she started the "Womanthology" book as project manager. She lives in Portland, Maine with her husband and 2 sons.

Zamparelli After reading The writer's Journey by Christopher Vogler (also purchased thought Amazon) I confirmed what I had been thinking about: a woman's journey is not equivalent to a man's. So I started looking for other writers that focused on this "feminine" outlook on life, journeys, cycles, aesthetic perspective, etc.Since I have great interest in the image I immediately purchased this book captivated by it's premise: a book about women in comics, written by women, edited by women with only female contributors in every aspect of the making of the book.As I read the foreword my enthusiasm for the initiative increased. It all began like a whisper; a message on Twitter. by Renae De Liz a comic book artist. Her initial idea was to see if other women creators were interested in working on a book with proceeds going to charity. More that 100 contributors signed in that same day. Talk about creative hunger. Once the word was out there was no stopping the process. In order to meet the economic demand of such a project it was launched in Kickstarter on July 7 2011. In 19 hours the project had surpassed its $25,000 mark. In 30 days 2001 people had pledged to the project.This is a big, beautiful book. But best of all is the wealth of how to information women can find in it about the process of writing comics, of the realities of the comic business, on how to approach an editor or publisher, pro tips that demystify the process of the "exclusive" world of comics.The section STORIES offers a sample of magnificent creators and their work.In FEATURES there is a wealth of information on How to Create Comics from how to write comics to how to dray in ink, how to ink, how to color, how to letter,draw monsters,coloring with markers, color digitally to name a few. Then there are the interviews of creators and a look at women of the past.I highly recommend this book to anyone in any creative field who is interested in comics. It's scope is comprehensive with the added bonus that it's focus is on women creators an almost invisible segment of the industry. Womanthology: Heroic

Because each contribution is quite short, usually about four pages long, you get a wide selection of stories and a sense of the diversity of what women in comics are writing about. I basically devoured this book in a day. I'd love to see a follow up with an even more diverse selection of contributors and story choices (like... more women of color, more queer and trans women, more women with disabilities, etc, and stories that involve elements of these experiences).

Perfect for my Artistic Niece By George Gelly I love graphic novels and I'm really old :PI also love it when my friends and family love them too... unfortunately, no real takers :(UNTIL my very young niece showed real talent as an artist. She noticed my comic books one day and, JOY, I was really happy :)Unfortunately (again), most of my stuff was over her head (bummer) :(THEN, I saw a review of this book and thought "perfect". And it's true!!Each artist in the book talk about their journey and give some really helpful advice on one, or more, aspects of graphic art.I also really loved the way the book really speaks to budding artists, especially girls.I can't wait until Christmas for her to get this!!Excellent purchase.

By anand reddy pandikunta You need to be familiar with Python & know basics of building an app with Django before starting this book!I have read articles written by Arun Ravindran and watched his screencasts & talks. So I brought the book as soon as it released.The book has various design patterns to solve everyday problems while building web apps. It also engages readers with stories & examples to get a better understanding of concepts.If You have started Django, this book will save a lot of time. If You are an experienced developer, You will find some patterns & best practices to clean up Your code.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Going to the next level with Django By Alexander Kahn Arun has made an excellent contribution to the myriad "learn Django" environment. I highly recommend this book to people who have completed the infamous polls tutorial as it represents a great survey of topics that the beginner would greatly benefit from using in practice.The treatments on models and class based views are particularly noteworthy. It would have been nice seeing some more content on custom template tags but alas that's almost a book in and of itself. Forms are properly treated as the data validating powerhouses they are. The comprehensive overview of testing is really fantastic along with recommendations on debugging tools that are standard amongst Django developers.If you are looking to go from beginner to affective in Django - this is a great way to do that.

You have to know some basics of Python and Django to read this book, but it is very readable and well organized.It offer the opportunity to understand deeply the django framework and designs patterns. It provide solutions to every day problems a django developer may encounter. The examples provided allow you to practice and understand the key concepts. I recommand to improve your best practices.
