20 of 21 people found the following review helpful. A Christian rags to riches story that is so heart warming. By Amazon Customer This is the sequel to Goodbyes and Second Chances. I loved these books. I loved that the characters did not forget where their talent came from and gave glory to the Lord. I have read a lot of Christian Romance and these two books just touched me so much. I usually do not laugh out loud when I am reading (even books that are supposed to have some comedic content in them) but I did with these. I would love for someone to pick this story up and make a Christian movie out of it. I hope Ms. Lowe will continue this series with some more books about the group.

I feel like I know each character and love each one. I laughed so hard while reading this book and also cried during Mave's recounting of his past drug abuse. I love how God's redeeming love shines through to cover a lifetime of wrongs. Keep writing T.I. Lowe!!!

I can count on Mrs. Lowe to write a clean romance that has a great message to it. I found myself grinning and laughing with the characters. She pulls you in like you are actually there with them having a good time. I read it in one evening. This was a fun and enjoyable read and I highly recommend it.

Edwards Humblenations has an oddball sense of humour which gives me a chuckle every time I read one of his short tales.This is a collection of his earlier work focused on women, sex, beer and, well, mostly that. Each story takes only a few minutes so it's good for reading on the trip into work, waiting in queues, or before the bomb explodes (unless you've figured out which wire to cut).Big fun in bite size.

Each essay ties up its own ends while the book as a whole ties everything up well. This is an easy read but not sophomoric. As detailed in the description, she uses a variety of literary styles and what really makes this a fun read, she seems confident in presenting her brand as she rolls through each chapter. Even though made up of stand-alone essays, there is a connecting plot and a big surprise delivered in a single sentence. Highly recommended.

She leave you with some thought provoking moments. I enjoyed her writing style and look forward to reading more books by her. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A Great Book By J.S. Robert This was a great book. I had a little bit of experience with meditation back in college, but nothing very serious. I was not an expert by any means. It is now years later, and with my job, I am constantly stressed out. My wife has been recommending that I take up meditation to help myself relax -and hopefully be more pleasant to be around :-)I found that this book was a great guide to the fundamentals of meditation and I learned quite a bit. I am still not an expert (that will take years of practice), but by consistently practicing I have found myself to be less stressed and more at peace. Even my wife has noticed a change, and that in itself is worth the price of this book.

In some way it helped you relax and spiked up my interest in doing the exercises right away. It seems it radiates the peace you can get from all the information. I can't wait to practice and do the things the author has given.

My 3 1/2 year old daughter is so excited to hear the stories of these amazing women of the Old Testament. We read several every night at bedtime! Esther is her current fave. The book is beautifully written with thorough, but straightforward stories for young readers. I love studying the women of the Bible, because it helps me see my own worth, strength, and identity in Christ. I am so thrilled to now have a book for my littles to see the love, power, and provision God gives his precious girls!

This author made an accessible, exciting, and content-rich storybook for GIRLS out of true Old Testament hero women. There are lots of resources for girls, but NOT straight from the Bible, highlighting real life women of God! This is so important, and needed. My eleven year old daughter (who's been hearing Bible stories all her life) was thrilled to discover women she'd never heard of! She thought this book was appropriate for her age group, especially if they are not very familiar with Bible stories. I agree! This storybook is so versatile because the illustrations and style make it a great choice for reading to a young girl, but the content is rich enough to engage older readers on their own, too. The author hit the mark, and girls will be engaged, whether they are new to the Bible or steeped in it. I only wish it were longer, so I am giving it four stars. I would love to see this book expanded with more stories, including New Testament women, picked up by a major publisher for wider distribution, and sold to a very wide audience at a lower price. Who wouldn't support this vision? I think the author is on the mark in concept and execution. This needs to be out there!

In content, illustrations, and the thought behind it, this book is apparently aimed at young girls. But, even as an adult, I found it captivating, and I can picture the boys in the family being drawn in by it as well. It is a refreshing new take on seeing beyond gender stereotypes, as we are reminded of (or introduced to for the first time) so called "minor" characters who ended up playing major roles in the fulfillment of God's purpose, both in the Old and New Testament. Highly recommended.

I want to say that I love this one even more than the last, but that would not be a fair statement. I LOVE all of the books in this series! Lexi is a smart, sexy, geeky heroine that can truly take care of herself but also has a cute guy waiting in the wings. She uses her brains to solve interesting crimes that are presented to her through her job, and has a great cast of friends to back her up and support her. She is not afraid of showing her intelligence and using it to her advantage! However, for all the smarts that she has, trouble does always seem to find her.In this latest installment of the series, Lexi finds herself going undercover and going back to high school. A period of her life that she truly wants to forget. She is hired to find the culprits that are wreaking havoc on the school's computer system. Needless to say, this doesn't turn out to be as easy as she hopes.If you haven't read any of the Lexi Carmichael books, do yourself a favor and get them all. You will want to get to know this wonderful heroine from the very beginning and trust me, you will come to love her! If you have already read some of the books in this series, then add this one to your "collection", you will NOT be disappointed! Beware: once you start to read this book, you will not want to put it down!

In this book, Lexi goes undercover at an exclusive high school in the DC area. A group of kids, the WOMBATs (LOVE the name), are creating havoc in the computer system and the school hires Lexi's company to solve the problem.Unfortunately for Lexi, trouble seems to follow her. While she is undercover, the school is attacked by terrorists. Lexi has to find a way to survive and try to stop them.Lexi is complicated and smart, as are most of the characters in the series. It is very refreshing to have a heroine and other characters that are brilliant.This is a great mystery/chick lit. It has plenty of humor, especially as Lexi pushes her social boundaries at strives to understand how to be a girlfriend to Slash.I started this book late in the day and stayed up late to finish it - it was just that good that I couldn't put it down. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.Thank you to the author for providing a complimentary ARC in exchange for an honest review.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. All I can say is loved it! By Tina Gummerson I love this series! Lexi is just such a gem. She is so intelligent and yet humble and so naive. I love her and Slash together-I might stop reading if anything changes on that front-just sayin', Ms. Moffet :-) So this is all about Lexi going back to high school to try and stop kids from hacking into a high tech high school for gifted, wealthy students. Then of course it turns into a much bigger deal and involves terrorists and a hostage situation. Lexi and Elvis are awesome-but I want them to stay friends! That is not a spoiler, there is nothing going on with them, there just continues to be little things here and there that hint at the possibility something else in the future just like in previous books. I mean it's pretty obvious since the beginning that Elvis is nuts about Lexi. That's also what makes her a great author, she has to keep us guessing right?... and wanting to read on and see where things lead. I love the way Slash is so patient with Lexi, he really cherishes her, accepts her eccentricities- for lack of a better word, and tries to help her expand her social repertoire without being patronizing or putting too much pressure on her. I want to see Lexi kicking some butt in the next book. Slash needs to teach her some self defense. She tries to kick some butt and holds her own in this book, but she needs to have some actual skills and not just acting on adrenaline in the heat of the moment. She needs to rescue herself now that she is becoming such a strong and independent woman, and not a shy, insecure, kid like she was in the beginning of the series. ANYWAY-great book, if you have been following Lexi for a while, you will not be disappointed! It just keeps getting better. If you haven't been following along until recently-you won't be disappointed either :-)

My mom suffered with the disease and had to have one leg amputated below her knee. One week before her death she had the other leg amputated below the knee as well. Was so sad watching her go through the effects of Diabetes and I hope I never get it. So far, so good. Many in my family have had the disease and I know had they had your book for a reference it might have made a difference to them. Thank you for writing such a poignant story about your journey with Diabetes 2. I am sure you have helped many people in their fight against the disease. It is a "pocket size" publication – the picture doesn't show that – but the font is easy enough to read. It's a scaled-down version of the main book – precisely the reason that I got it and offered this version as the resource for my life group. These type books tend to get to the point quicker.

Baron Munchausen (German: Münchhausen) is a fictional German nobleman in literature and film, loosely based on a real baron, Hieronymus Karl Friedrich, Freiherr von Münchhausen. The real-life Münchhausen became a minor celebrity for telling outrageous tall tales based on his military service in the Russo-Turkish War. After hearing some of Münchhausen's stories, the writer Rudolf Erich Raspe adapted them into an anonymously published English-language volume about a fictional "Baron Munchausen." The book was subsequently translated back into German and expanded by the poet Gottfried August Bürger. The real-life Münchhausen was deeply upset at the development of a fictional character bearing his name. Raspe's book was a major international success, and versions of the fictional Baron have appeared on stage, screen, radio, and television. In addition, three medical conditions (Munchausen syndrome, Munchausen syndrome by proxy, and Munchausen by Internet) and a logical problem (the Münchhausen Trilemma) are named after the character.

Jensen Whenever you have the desire to just let your imagination go with some total escapist reading, you can't really go wrong with any of the Munchausen stories. The movie of the same title by Terry Gilliam is also wonderful. These are good stories to read to a fairly young (like between 5 and 10) year old child, but I find them entertaining as well. I'm not sure how the other reviewer could find them 'dull', but I suppose it's a matter of taste, and perhaps imagination. This book was written in an eloquent rather baroque way, and is a bit flowery in it's language. The language used relects the time, teller and story however, and is appropriate. Another good fantastical escapist book is 'The Worm Ouroboros' by E.R. Eddison.

14 of 16 people found the following review helpful. No illustrations by Dore By Orthrus If you are looking for an edition of this book that has illustrations by Gustave Dore, do not purchase this. As of 01/29/10, if you search for books with Dore's work in them, this turns up. There are no illustrations with this version. My rating is in no way related to the story or any other aspect of this edition, which seems fine, and is quite entertaining.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. mendacious bedtime tales By Manimunak There is a photograph of me with an illustrated copy of Munchausen taken when I was a sweet 5 year old. I was taken with the great fibber then and now that I'm 63 I'm still taken him. Many of the tales I can remember quite well.The more important aspect of this short book is the background material on the author and associated detail.I chased the Munchausen book for some time as literature for my grand daughters to compliment, Stauwel Peter, and Max und Moritz and I wanted them in English. I always balked when the author was given as Raspe until my research showed an seed that Munchausen was not his own author.The tales are short and the reader can interpolate and ad lib which is not only good for bedtime stories but an incentive to enhance the listeners' imagination.All in all the book brought back fond childhood memories, consolidated knowledge of publishing in Europe for the 18th century and there-abouts and well worth the effort to obtain.An excellent book who's stories will enhance the imagination and not confuse tall tales with any semblance of truth. Great for imaginative childrens' bedtime stories, adding a touch of "classical language" to enhance critical and imaginative language experience.

Wilson III Loved reading the new Searching Together booklet, "Christ Alone." The title pretty much sums up the booklet. Jon Zens discusses five challenges every local ekklesia faces in keeping Christ alone together. A very timely word. The booklet then takes aim at one of those things we can often confuse, the equating of the Bible with Christ by Dennis J. Mulkey. "The Canon of Scripture and the Christ of Scripture are not synonyms!" The booklet then ends with a short chapter from T. Austin-Sparks of "All Things in Christ" where TAS illuminates the problem of how the church has taken the techniques and practices and orders and forms and teaching found in the Bible "and the Lord Jesus has just been missed and lost." The ending of TAS excerpt is when on a conference in the USA the sad affair we see when brothers and sisters do not pursue Christ alone..."they were not interested in that." Thought provoking and a stirring of the soul word for today. A great read!

By Stephen Crosby Anyone who is experiencing or considering life in Christ outside of institutional and hierarchical constructs would do well to consider the wisdom in this small booklet. Merely miniaturizing one's expression of faith from a sanctuary to a living room is not spiritually progressive. Our geography does not need to change. Our beliefs, values, ethics and methods that hinder the supremacy of Jesus Christ in our expression need to change, regardless of our meeting format. In a very easily readable style Jon presents answers for issues that anyone pursuing life in Christ outside traditional constructs will inevitably run into.

7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Great! By Uncle Bob Great / wide ranging coverage of USB at a number of levels. Like all of Jan's stuff, easy to read and utilize. If you are after a dive into hardware level signaling, it's there and you can use that section by it's self. If you want to start from bits and pieces and finish up with a full blown custom driver, you can do that as well.If you have the need to do a customized USB hardware device, you need this book. You likely also need a bunch of other stuff as well. The same is true if you are going to write a device driver. You need this book. You also need to understand a lot about writing code. If you are doing a commercial product. There is a *lot* more you will need to do to go from scratch ASIC's to "plug and play on every device on the planet" than any one book can cover.My only gripe (and it's a very minor one) is that the Amazon description does not really cover the book as well as it might. The book does cover the in's and outs of getting Windows to co-operate with USB. It is not a book on "using C# and Visual Basic". The book is by no means specifically targeted on those two languages. (ok so pretty picky ...).Is 100% of everything you would ever need to know in this one book? Of course not. You can have a few hundred books on this and related subjects and not cover *everything*. The book goes about as deep as you possibly can without becoming un-usable. It's also here at a pretty reasonable price rather than costing $250 ... (Buy many limited run academic text's lately? They are expensive).

By paulmbrandt I purchased this book on Kindle in order to get a foundational understanding of how USB works, and hopefully a few coding examples. I got exactly what I needed! The book is well organized, complete in its description of the subject matter, and even gave a primer on .NET vs API calls. If you need a quick and complete tutorial, as well as a brief reference guide....this is probably the best book you're going to find. My only unfulfilled wish was that when reading this Kindle book on an iPad, some of the screen capture photos were difficult to read. This may be different if viewed on a Kindle, or on a desktop running Kindle software. I typically purchase my books on Kindle, this one made me wish I'd been patient enough to wait for a hard copy.
